It’s kind of like, and I’ll take my own L on this, how Radiohead’s perception is way more pretentious than the reality and it’s off putting how Radiohead fans talk about Radiohead - to the point that even if they’re just saying “man they showed me a lot of things in music I didn’t think was within the scope of a rock bands” still kinda rubs the wrong way and feels like more of the same

it’s that but the opposite with Deftones lol

 

I know man. I was gonna go too, but then I just didn’t feel like it because I barely know any Meshuggah and it had been a while since I was on a Converge kick so I was like “I’ll see Converge and Torche another time”

I was wrong on one of those counts

During Covid our grocery store would only allow you to get 2 packages of toilet paper because of the shortage, so when we put our delivery in, we chose 2 of every brand because they would run out so quick and we would ultimately get none, but the time we did this, we ended up getting 2 of every brand and had over 150 rolls of toilet paper.

I don't vibe with Converge either even though they're basically the launching point for modern metalcore. I like the bands that were influenced by Deftones/Converge more than those bands themselves lol

 

nah, this dude gets an OL paid and a WR cut, basically the opposite breed of mobile QB as like a Joe Burrow; gets the ball out quickly, isn’t a shifty feet boy in the pocket, doesn’t stress the line with a bunch of improv bullshit, doesn’t take stupid sacks because of indecision like a Carson Wentz does. On the flip side, the ball comes out and the receiver is stressed because it hits them a step behind where it should, and one in 5 passes is a “what are you doing???” type throw that makes you think there’s miscommunication on the play.

The latter feels correctable with reps, but I’ll start to worry if either we’re having this same conversation in the offseason and there isn’t any discernible improvement, or if he starts to lose confidence and regresses on the former, which would lead to a basically unusable QB

Turns out the guy with character concerns at college still has character concerns. Cant even get sacks to make up for it!

 

i remember the day i realized Petey was the same Petey who i had been following on tiktok for over a year and i was absolutely blown the fuck away lol

 

The band themselves wish this lol

but a lot of people still genuinely love that song. Like, I’ve met Gen Z people who got into Radiohead because of Creep. I hate the song but I (and the band, im sure) am forced to acknowledge its cultural importance haha

 

Hoping to see Petey at ACL next month. He plays pretty early in the day and not sure we'll be there in time

 

yeah I just don’t find myself listening to metalcore really at all anymore. Still love some of their stuff, I just rarely find myself in the mood
