I just glanced and good lord. No one is saying Dems are perfect, but Harris winning the presidency is exponentially better than a Trump winning. I get not liking either party but shitting on people for being excited about a candidate because you want change that is probably not going to happen in our lifetimes is just miserable behavior.

Nobody is saying that a Trump presidency will be better. People are demanding more from dems, who have been largely useless holding office, and having a new dem candidate that during an election can be at least attempted to be forced to sway their opinion on these major issues. Realistically, they win and again nothing changes, and we continue this extremely frustrating cycle. But yeah.

 

I said I only read a portion of it because I really don’t read the thread much, like 3 pages worth. I’m assuming you’re talking about the Israel-Palestine conflict. I do not disagree that we need to stop selling Israel arms and we need actively support Palestinians. But also I did not see anyone directly mention this in the small section I read. Sorry I did not go into this in an unrelated thread!

I’ve been pretty active there since late last night and saw it as the topic on every page so I did assume you must have seen it. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I don’t actually disagree with most of what you said I just think not having an option that opposes genocide is an extreme thing that does understandably temper excitement for a lot of people and just makes it more frustrating.

Just responding to both:

I understand both of these. And my perspective comes from being a queer woman, who could have many rights taken away if the election goes the other way. I absolutely support aiding Palestine and ending the genocide that is going on. That is not something I’m ignoring.

I wish this country was different and we could demand action immediately and have it seen through, or to have a viable option that more aligns with how we feel in regards to these matters, but it’s just not how it is and it does suck. The one positive is it seems that Harris’s team is actually paying attention to what people are saying because they have been reactive and correcting things that have not been perceived well. I sincerely hope they take action after the election ends and they can actually do something, assuming she is elected, but only time will tell.

 

I agree the Harris candidacy has seemed a bit more reactive to what voters want, which is why i strongly agree with some that means now is an even better time than last week to crank up the pressure for an arms embargo.
