Had a moment today that reminded me why I like my job. I had a softball player come in last minute almost two weeks ago with back/hip pain for almost a year and had tried multiple treatments to no avail. Had imaging, multiple MDs, etc. I’m not sure what exactly the cause was just because it had been so long and any acute injury would have healed, but it was clear she just wasn’t moving well.

I gave her a handful of simple movements/exercises/etc just to get her back to tolerating movement. She ended up pitching in her tournament in California they traveled to a couple days later that she didn’t think she was going to play in, and her team won the whole thing. She didn’t have any pain during or after.

 

It also makes me frustrated with healthcare because it was such a simple evaluation. Like it didn’t really matter why it happened because there was nothing serious that stood out, there was just clear reason why she still was not moving well and had pain.
