Probably! If it happened now definitely yes, if it happens after a good season and postseason I start to care a lot less but it all depends on what the team looks like

I have to believe Trevor will ascend to the level of top QBs. I don't think Tua will. Mahomes will likely not be a top ten paid QB this year and is equally likely to have his fifth super bowl appearance in six years. At a certain point you're just throwing money away.

If you want a Mahomes for that cheap then you should’ve been smart enough to draft him outside the top 10 and then sign him to a 10 year deal at the earliest opportunity. The rest of the league wasn’t, Chiefs were. If other teams were smart about QB like that they’d get deals on QB like that but they’re not so the market is what it is.

 

If they were smart they'd realize the ones with the money control that market. We did this and accepted it with multiple positions, I think we'll survive doing it for QBs. Minnesota just did it!

 

Trevor unfortunately hasn’t proven enough to be worth the super forward thinking 10 year deal, yes injuries yes coaching yes offensive line yadda yadda but we’ve yet to see him stay elite or near-elite for a whole season.

He also doesn’t have a million endorsements like Mahomes does and that’s a very overlooked factor in terms of the GOAT QB taking a cheaper deal, same was true with Brady, Mahomes / Brady still make way more than most other QBs regardless. That’s why they took less. The QB contract isn’t even half their income
