For me there are numbers that FIT either positions or athletic profiles.

80, 81, 83, 1, 7, 11 feel like WRs

87 is a tight end

4,7,11,12,18 feel like QBs

54 is a middle linebacker

24 is a CB1 shutdown corner

32 is a free safety

DE should be in the 90s and most LBs should be in the 50s but hyper athletic LBs should be in the single digit to teens

These thoughts have not in any way been molded by my fandom of a specific team.

 

Worst jersey numbers are most of the 60s and 70s. And 46-49.
