15k to add central air seems low imo

 

I've lived in places with no AC before and lemme tell you, in both senses of the word, not a fan.

 

Depends how much of the HVAC is already there. It's what we were quoted for one of the houses we had an offer in on, so it's kinda just where I've budgeted. I'd also be fine with mini splits worst case.

Will do! Very few people watch me right now (obviously) so there's not a pressing need but it's something I have in the back of my mind, adding a mod

 

MA prices just suck (as I'm sure is the same with so many other states)

2-bedroom condos in my town are going all over 400k, which gives me zero hope to ever get a house here. Will have to move to NH but even then houses are getting pricier and pricier by the day

 

How much would you budget? @spiffa0 too

 

What I can tell you is that I just spent more than that for a new unit (high level unit though) + installation + other shit without having to route any other HVAC

I don't really know how much I'd budget for full initial central air installation

 

I also had to do that in Texas on July 5 so that could be price gouging at work so maybe it IS cheaper

 

I think the place we had it quoted for already had all the duct work installed so that might be why. I just gave it a new google and it was like 25-35k starting completely fresh.

 

Mini splits are the way to go. I wish my house had it.

 

I'd be fine with Mini splits. My wife would need to see it in action first. She's just adamant on "better than window units"

 

we recently got a heat pump put in for about that (had the duct work already)

 

I had a second zone put in on my 2nd floor in 2017 where they had to run duct work through the attic and what not and that was 13k for one floor and 7 years ago.
