I've been on the phone with ford twice this morning. manufacturer warranty ends at 36k miles and I'm at 39,100 or so

my "infotainment" system is completely dead. I have no radio, no backup camera, no power to the charge ports - I'm lucky the climate controls still work

I've tried everything I can on my end. it needs something called an APIM module and one dealership quoted me for $1500 parts and labor - ford won't cover it or offer any financial assistance period

seems pretty crappy for such a key component to completely fail and get no help!

 

Just get some big-ass truck like your OK brethren

my life would be easier if I just got a company truck but then I wouldn't get a monthly stipend that we're using to pay down debt lmao so my wife won't let me!!!

 

It's insane how much power the dealers have. You get the right person on the phone from a different dealer, or even Ford direct, and they'll help. You get the service writers that want the paycheck and they're like "there's nothing we can do, blame Ford!"

 

is the monthly stipend more than whatever you're gonna pay for in a new vehicle?

 

there's some legal BS that doesn't allow consumers to buy straight from a manufacturer right?

 

dealerships are pure scum and should be all burned to the ground.

my car + insurance right now is about $500 - I have a company fuel card but I'm responsible for all of my own maintenance

stipend is about $800 (basically to cover maintenance)

but since we're already budgeted for that car the stipend has just been extra help when it's been needed - like we just used it as extra money when we went to Pennsylvania last month

 

the issue is that I still owe more than its trade-in value on my car so I can't just sell it straight to a dealership or private party

 

I straight up told the last ford person that I will probably never buy another one

had my eye on a used bronco sport for about the same price as the brand new kia

 

How much longer would you keep it if you just spent the (absurd) $1500 to fix the issue?

 

I want to get rid of this car as soon as possible lol

 

man the things i would do for $800 extra a month are not legal

 

Yeah, they even let you "buy" directly from some manufacturers but then pick-up and all the paperwork and stuff still has to take place at the dealer where you'll have to jump through all the same "please buy these upgrades and warranties" garbage

i could begin trying to escape my debt for one. but alas i shall remain unemployable until the end of my days.

I know I'm in an insanely lucky position, which is another reason I feel like I can't look for another job for at least a year or two
