i have 23 days but if the plan for Megan to get pregnant this year works and I take parental leave towards the september/october range (I get 16 weeks), then my PTO will be prorated for that absence so I'm probably only going to take off for random sick days, moving in July probably for a full week, and then we have a couple of short three day weekend type trips coming

yeah i already have 5 of the 23 accounted for and probably another 5 for when we move. dwindles quick. luckily the plan is such that I will be off for all the major holidays end of the year anyways so I don't have to worry about saving days for that time

My work is starting this ridiculous “unlimited PTO” shenanigans so I will see how many days I can get before they lay us all off

I would push the limits of unlimited PTO until they sit me down and say I can’t take anymore days and then I’d hire Pat to sue them.

my wife has that and any time she tries to take off more than 2 days, they call her on the 3rd day and ask her to come in for a "project"

Yup! Now when they lay a bunch of people off (again) they won’t have to pay out unused vacation time. It’s so lame.

Luckily my manager won’t be a huge dick about taking time off cause they know how much time I’m used to having and I’ll try to mirror that, but the overall premise is so lame as it makes people feel guilty for using “too much” time and then they end up not even using enough
