The current record for worst point differential in league history is -287. The Panthers are at -133 thru 7 games. That’s pacing for -323 for the season. I don’t see things getting any better so there’s a real chance we set the record. The defense is truly terrible. And we don’t have a QB. Bad times.

We’ve tried so hard to fix the offense. Poured so many assets into it. The last 3 drafts, we’ve selected TWO defensive players. DJ Johnson and Trevin Wallace. Johnson is a wasted roster spot. Wallace is a rookie. The offense is putrid. The defense is neglected. A real disaster.

 

We have the worst roster in the league and we promoted the #2 guy in building the roster to GM. Then let him hire his best friend as HC and were the only team that wanted him.

This is a perfect example of what I’ve been thinking about the last few years.

The Patriots came into the season with arguably the most depleted roster in football. Everyone knew they were gonna be bad. But now that they’re 1-6 everyone wants Mayo fired. Just absolutely zero patience to allow a coach to actually build a program and try and get something going.

 

Yeah, Fields was uncharacteristically good at not turning the ball over early in the year, but, his ceiling was always pretty low. I dont like Russ at all, but even in the season he got benched and fired, he was still putting up 10+ more TDs and like 1000yds more than Fields. And an even greater difference than that between Pickett.

Dont see them as a SB team, but, can see them winning the division and winning a wildcard round game at least

 

People are saying the same about Alabama who has two (2) losses (and losing to Vanderbilt is kinda like losing to the Jags)

Franchises with past dynasties are forever impatient unless they're Dallas and then they'll coddle their team forever

 

I just have no desire to be the Jets where it’s every year or two we’re firing the coach and starting over again and again. I’d rather let Maye, Maye and AVP stick together and try and figure it out together.

 

I also wonder if it’s partly biased because a lot of people (myself included) did not want a defensive HC when the offense was the glaring need and focus for the rebuild.

And now seeing how it doesn’t look good on either side of the ball due to bad roster and defensive injuries (and trading Judon) that it’s hot take reactionary of “SEE I TOLD YOU” pushing it.

For me, I’m ready to give Mayo still a chance and another season to show progress. But I can’t lie it really feels like the team is so immature and a mess and it’s not being kept internally.
