Ohio gets way too much hate for a pretty alright state

I’d bet it’s in the top half and there’s 25 worse states in this country

Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois (shitty state outside of Chicago), Indiana, Virginia, South Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana (shitty state outside of NOLA), Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Idaho, Delaware, West Virginia, Missouri, Connecticut, Nevada are all definitely worse

Ohio’s probably on par with Tennessee and Florida and Pennsylvania as a middle of the pack state with some really nice things and some really shitty things, but maybe I was wrong that it’s better than 25.

Idk how to compare to like Maine or Montana or Kentucky or Wyoming, states that probably have awesome nature but nowhere near as much urban to offer, that’s just tough to compare.

Hot take: Texas gets a horrible rap for its politics and that’s totally true but its major cities are pretty solid and they carry the state to being like, lower middle of the pack

 

Florida has less cool cities than Texas but better attractions otherwise, the beaches and the food alone carry it to lower middle of the pack

 

I’ve been to Athens, Ohio and I don’t remember anything other than it being really haunted, yet I saw no ghouls or ghosts

 

Grant, Max, note that I do rank Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado etc in the upper half though and above Florida and Texas and Ohio

 

Maryland is great, one tier behind elite, even if it’s only the DMV carrying it. Baltimore / DC one of the coolest areas in the country and the rest of Maryland isn’t as bad as Illinois, Georgia and Louisiana are outside of their excellent largest cities haha. Maryland’s weather is also way better than all three.

 

It’s p hard to weigh everything though. Massachussetts and Cali are elite states EXCEPT for the extremely prohibitive cost which single-handedly drops them down a tier for me lol. Idk if there are any elite states when we factor in cost tbh

 

North Carolina probably the best southern state

Either Minnesota or Michigan is best in the Midwest

Lot of great states in the mid Atlantic / northeast but New York probably the best with the most to offer overall. I might rank Maryland #2 though if we’re considering New England a separate thing. If it’s the whole northeast it’s a close #3 behind Massachussetts.

Whole west coast is good

southwest I might say New Mexico is best

Colorado the best Rocky Mountain state by far (but I’d choose British Columbia, Canada over any Rocky Mountain US state tbh)

the middle of the country is fucking ass and I might actually rank Texas highest lol
