Might not have been the success that you wanted but 114 people still listening to something you released a WHILE ago when there’s so much music out there and you’re not even actively touring IS pretty cool

I think one of the biggest issues is people establish in their head an expectation of what success looks like and get dejected when they don’t get there.

Honestly anyone regularly listening to your band is amazing lol getting viral is all about capitalizing on momentum and getting lucky with opportunities but that shit is EXPENSIVE to even give yourself a CHANCE. I’ve spent like $10k in the last year trying to record this album and launch this band lmao and also taken some pretty lucrative days off work to play shows. So don’t be hard on yourself if you couldn’t do what it takes to launch your music “for real” most people can’t and most musicians who released something do not have 114 monthly listeners years later.

The trick is to not attach your pride in your work to how much attention it gets. It’s all a crapshoot and has very little correlation with quality, terrible music goes viral all the time because of the “vibes” / great music gets ignored all the time because of the lack of a platform or social media momentum being built with constant new exposure IRL.

I don’t agree with most people’s opinions on music anyway lol - i already know I’d have to get lucky with the right niche audiences hearing me, so it’s no use breaking my own heart by hanging my joy of music on whether that happens or not. My joy of being a musician existed long before anyone heard or cared about any of my songs, and it’d be a waste to let the 99.9% chance that it doesn’t make me money back ruin that lol

The Akron show is probably the biggest banger, Friday night with a stacked lineup, at an excellent recording studio venue that records your whole live set on quality sound and video
