Never actually played this many dates in a row before, most shows I’ve played in a tour prior to this is 8. Also never played in the Midwest - the majority of this tour is new territory.

we weren’t able to book large southern cities as late as we started - we aimed for Richmond, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Nashville but had to pivot - but it makes sense, bigger bands book EARLY and probably hog the southern venues as early as possible for winter shows to avoid snow.

However it’s better to start with small cities anyway. Much easier to convince teens & young adults to go to shows in a town without too much competition in terms of entertainment / places to have a night out, in towns like Columbus GA music venues ARE the hangout spot for a lot of people, and they will go see a random band they’ve never heard of if their friends are also going. They also get more hype because professional bands don’t really go to places like Columbus, even Jacksonville rarely gets pro tours over Tampa and Orlando. So if the goal is getting people to stream my music, it’s better to be a big fish in a small pond at first and then hit more big cities once we have some momentum and hopefully got on a few popular playlists.

 

Glad you’re okay spiff. I went to the ER like 2 months into covid cause I thought I was having a heart attack. It was just really bad heartburn from eating like an absolute pig the first 2 months of lockdown.

I'm not a full-on 9/11 fan but I enjoy some of its greatest hits from time to time

 

9/11 is basically Green Day. A touchstone moment for the scene, some truly terrible stuff but the hits are HITS. Oh and George W. Bush is involved with both too so that works.
