workweek over, time to smoke so much weed that a normal, non-neurodivergent, non-pothead person would be paranoid and calling 911 lol

Pelicans, Jags both are absolute mega ass right now, Orioles currently wasting their wide open window by deciding they'd love to still suck at pitching but also do nothing about our hitters choking in the Wild Card two years in a row

but at least my taste in music stays taking Ws. Spinning Gang of Four right now. (Prob my most valuable record, it's an original pressing from 1980 that I bought on RSD, gotta flex) Fuck a 90s emo revival lets do an 80s punk & post-punk revival, way better music movement

(to be honest though my band is kinda both lol you hear both 90s emo and 80s post punk / 80s DC hardcore punk in our sound. Plus some 2000s indie/alternative & if anyone modern, probably Title Fight)

    lol definitely not me.

Even in the scenario of "my music blows up" i don't think I'd enjoy the level of fame that comes with that, gotta be real uncomfortable to live in the public eye all the time.

The sweet spot is "cult following, one of your albums got certified gold, but normies at the grocery store will never notice you"

"elliott smith famous" is the perfect amount, while most people dont know him, countless musicians pay homage to him making them look at music differently, and he had an album that went gold and got to perform at the Grammy's once shortly before his death... but unfortunately he didn't live to benefit from it

Brand New was about that level of famous but they ruined their platform by being shitheads so. Womp womp they're not a good example either lol

Idk what's an older example of that... Fugazi? Joy Division? Sonic Youth? I'm hella inspired by all of them and I'd say their level of popularity is what I"d consider "best case scenario". Never TOO famous, but enough to sustain yourself and live somewhat comfortably with music alone.

Doesn’t that same user post in the politics thread which is 97% tweets? Just feels like an odd moment to lash out at seeing a tweet when THAT was the tweet

my schedule does annoy me sometimes cause often great social events happen on busy restaraunt nights and I actually have to budget extra to do that if I'm also missing work in the process

But, I wake up when I want, get to enjoy all the sunshine and nature and afternoon walks and naps and guitar jams and delicious breakfasts I have the energy for before work, and then I get home and I shitpost / watch sports / smoke weed till I decide to fall asleep of my own volition and not because of a bedtime, so, pros and cons haha. I'd probably like this more if I was an introvert but I do be getting FOMO lately.

being closed Sundays is so clutch, i at least have one weekend day and never have to fight with a manager over trying to watch football or play a show on a busy brunch day where people are rarely allowed to request off. And then being closed Mondays too?? Always two days off in a row? Luxury for the service industry. While I lament breakfast / lunch servers not making nearly as much money and having no choice but to work 4-5 dinners a week, this is as good as a dinner restaurant job gets.

Gotta be thankful they don't cut servers when it's slow too - that was a drag at first cause 40 hours in a restaurant feels like mf 60 hours anywhere else and it's always nice getting off work, but long term your pay is way more consistent when you're guaranteed hours and tips. Even when it's slow I walk with at least like $150 and that's.... well that's the only way I'm affording my life and my album in post-pandemic inflation with one restaurant job lol
