I wish it was easier to sympathize with POC soldiers who only joined to get out of poverty - but by the time they've had the 20 year military career, they've been fully indoctrinated to believe everything they did was for a noble cause, and they no longer see it as a deal they made with the devil to get their own family out of oppression. so. I have a lot of complicated feelings about that knowing I benefitted from it in terms of financial stability as a kid. Ironic af that I want to write music that is anti-US military but I would've never had a guitar growing up if my dad wasn't a military officer to begin with
