Didn't Zeppelin famously rip off a bunch of smaller bands? So GVF are really just continuing a tradition?

No I was more so replying to your post. You didn’t say blues artists.

 

I don’t see planes flipped upside down at Pearson that often tbh

 

they certainly “stole” electric blues as an art form and the first record is essentially a covers record but in the same way that jack white did for the white stripes or whatever. doing covers and putting their own spin and interpolation of the songs from largely unsung contemporary artist vs a band writing originals that are just north of copyright infringement of bands from decades earlier

 

also, and i’m not going to claim to know what they were saying when they were young, but they very often were like “oh we love xyz delta blues artist PLEASE listen to them” vs GVF being like “oh yeah we’ve heard led zeppelin once or twice i think?”

 

Wolfmother was kinda seen as a LZ ripoff too right? I only ever listened to their first 2 albums

 

and i’d argue LZ1 is probably the least we’ll known of their popular records. there isn’t any ripping off really with, like, stairway to heaven haha

 

yeah i mean you could argue white stripes too. for whatever reason people turned on that music real quick like five years later

jimi hendrix isn’t ripping off bob dylan doing all along the watchtower but tallest man on earth kind is with his originals, even though they are good songs

The school my mother in law teaches at has already decided to go to remote learning the rest of the week in anticipation of the snow storm that’s supposed to come in early tomorrow morning. Wild.

 

The weather app is telling me we will be in an “extreme cold warning” tomorrow
