I think this is my first King book and it’s very good just was shocking

did you read the original or extended version of the stand? I started the extended a few years back but got bored and didn’t get far at all. My brother read the extended recently and said I’d be fine to go with the original and I’m enjoying it much more and am flying through it.

It’s a great book but yeah, some big yikes moments

 

I loved the Stand and it is deservingly the top ranked book by most Stephen King fans. I don’t think I’d rank it #1 but it’s great!

I did read the “extended version.” The extended version is actually technically the “original” one but when it got published they told him to cut a bunch out since it’s his like 2nd or 3rd book lol

From what I’ve read on what was cut out, I am sure it’s totally fine and I wouldn’t stop reading the one you’re reading. Cutting out several hundred pages is prob a good idea lol

 

okay yeah I think I made it like 50-60 pages with that “extended” version and gave up and I’ve read like 120 in 2 days with the shorter one

 

Oh yeah that’s totally fine haha, don’t force yourself to read something you aren’t enjoying.

He’s ridiculously wordy and if you’re not used to it then it can be tough to get into. IT, for example, could easily have like 3-400 pages cut out haha

for the record, it is disingenuous to say this got started by dragging trevor. it started because I said bryce is good and jokingly was saying the panthers won't have to search for a QB the same way that other teams will and randall brought up the jags. no one is going out of their way to bring up trevor. you guys always start it and we, admittedly, beat it like a dead horse.

The 4k set that includes theatrical and extended editions. I believe there is a 4k of just the theatrical available.

I agree it got ran with in bad faith but I also wasn't really a part of that. but to act like trevor got brought up by other people is just a lie. you brought him up and did so unprompted.

 

i do think its bordering on drew with the bucks level posting. people wouldn't talk about the jags in such a negative way so much if you didn't needlessly bring him/them up so much. no one was asking to discuss the 2022 jags today lol.

We could’ve just accepted me saying “four 4th quarter comebacks of 3 scores or more in one season” as the factual statement it is and not acted like that’s a meaningless stat because it’s obviously not, and was obviously a good reason to believe in Trevor

that’s where this actually started but everyone kept trying to undermine an objectively VERY impressive thing, that’s what dragged it out. I was happy to say my peace and bounce but then I got quoted about “nothing burger” stats by @Sean Murphy, and then @Dinkleberg said I was moving the goal posts when they were exactly the same goal posts I set at the beginning of the discussion, and then @JoshIsMediocre acted like a comeback victory is actually a bad thing, and then you acted like Bryce who’s had 3 good games total is clearly better etc
