Having read those political posts out of context, while he went way too far trying to express a feeling of hopelessness, And while it was definitely messed up to suggest we should “accept the reality” of such a horrifying and evil thing that can still be stopped, and I especially despise the fact he did this just to make a point to non-voters… I also really don’t think it’s fair to categorize him as a genocide supporter. That is VERY Different than what he was saying, and while we can hold him accountable for those posts we don’t need to do it in such a bad faith way.

 

His point was clearly that while that’s one issue that couldn’t be changed there are other things that still did matter and make a difference this election, he said it in a very appalling way but to take from that that he supports or is happily complicit in their deaths is a huge huge reach

there are tons of actual supporters of western terrorism that we can be directing that anger toward - expressing heavy doubt that we can actually stop this war machine, while extremely depressing, is not the same thing

 

He legit said we should just accept that Palestinians will be wiped out. Fuck them, don’t make excuses for them.

From the perspective of “this is the way of the world and we should just accept racism and violence” yes that would be a permaban, get shunned from this community forever, type of offensive and evil thing to say.

But in context that was clearly not his angle and he was instead saying, like, abstaining from this election doesn’t do any more to help those people than voting Dem. And on some level, I feel like since we aren’t willing to take up guns and risk a painful death or treason charges - and we won’t be as long as we have first-world comforts to lean on - I myself find myself questioning how we’re gonna stop the US government from financing a genoicde and terrorizing people of color over seas. I genuinely don’t think any of this performative political bickering nor our vote (or our decision to non-vote) means shit when it comes to that. So on some level I can understand feeling totally hopeless, but I do also acknowledge wording it that way was really fucked up and sounded sociopathic, and he shouldn’t have spoken from a place of spite about the election & the war even though we were all in our feelings and non voters / Dem voters are bound to have UGLY arguments about that topic

Certainly would have been much less shitty if he’d said something like, well I hope the UN stops Israel somehow cause we certainly can’t, but instead he felt spiteful toward non voters and wanted to make them feel shitty about their decision and that’s where it got real fucked up
