One of the dumbest things I was involved with in high school was a buddy of mine was dared to snort coke.

can’t remember the whys and hows but he did (after we all attended a concert of a shitty local band in an abandoned laser tag building) and a bunch of people were there and they talked about it openly over the next few days at school and of course “Brad snorted coke after the concert, it was crazy!” is only understood as one thing so eventually cops got involved and interviewed a bunch of us - including the person who “provided the coke” and it took about 10-15 interviews with people before they finally believed that it was the drink he snorted, not the drug. They thought we were all lying about it being the soda to protect him when in reality we were just dumb high schoolers doing dumb, but not illegal, things lol

 

per capita is pretty high for Jacksonville that’s what I was saying haha. It’s had a massive decrease in violent crime this past year alone but that’s true of a lot of places including Baltimore. Also worth noting that city lines are arbitrary & cities with larger overall area like Jax actually have a “per capita” that’s misleading because of course that same inner city crime isn’t happening on the fuckin, farms / ranches on the outskirts of Jax near Callahan or Maccleny lol

 

And yeah most of the violent crime IS gang activity. The crimes that happen to everyone are like, someone breaks your car window and steals a laptop from your vehicle. Usually not being stupid and leaving a laptop in view of your outside window solves that problem lol. Can’t underestimate basic common sense to protect yourself in a city. No one at my restaurant walks alone or walks down an alley to our car after a shift, for example.

 

Yeah per capita isn't that high for Jax.

 

Most violent crime is absolutely not gang activity. Most murders specifically? Perhaps. A quick google search says no on that too though.
