You laugh but one day you’ll miss drinking and realize wine is not only a healthier way to do it, but also has every bit of the collector’s / connoisseur’s novelty you get out of drinking rare, high end beers

I would not recommend wine to a Miller Lite slammer with limited income, but an accounting controller who already spends $12 on a boutique beer sometimes and hates drinking any shitty beer, absolutely lol

lol I understand the value of the job it just reminded me of that episode.

but for me, I can tell the difference between cheap and decent wine but at some point my palate is just not up to snuff to understand the value of a very expensive wine vs a decent wine.

 

i am not and will never be rich and bougie enough to need someone to tell me what wine to drink but i respect the grind. I will always enjoy my $15 bottle of pinot noir.

Expensive wine by itself has more flavor notes, better balance (not sweet, not overly dry, not too acidic etc), and generally a much longer lasting flavor where like you can still taste one sip like a full minute afterward, so it’s much easier to savor and enjoy slowly. But the biggest difference is actually when it comes to food pairing. Shitty wine gonna taste kinda low quality no matter what you drink it with. Really good wine, is totally wasted if you drink it with something that doesn’t pair - but with something that pairs well, it literally tastes different after your first bite of food and makes your food taste different as well in a complementary way. It’s the transformation of the palette and the several “stages” of flavors you go through that makes buying expensive wine with dinner awesome. And that’s really the awesome part of the experience that you will never get from a sub $75 bottle (after markup, to be fair - can get that experience cheaper at a store than a restaurant obviously)
