I LOVE my active jazz bass and I finally get to play it again. Just got it restrung, re-batteried and set up, and I finally have my own bass cab

when I got the bass head and bass guitar I was living with other musicians and one of them was a bassist with two bass cabs. But then a few months later he moved out and left me with a basically unusable $1500 bass and $3000 bass amp head for awhile lol.. and it wasn’t a priority to get another because I had to do all kinds of other music shit. FINALLY found an amazing deal on a high quality cab that’s not too huge to move from place to place and I’m boutta start playing mad bass again

 

I like my Squier bass

 

i just go straight through a compressor for the bass no need to have an amp, not to mention no room

 

Spent $150 on a bass cab that could’ve been $500 if I bought it online and not from a friend trying to get rid of it

if i ever came to the point where id need an amp id just use the helix and get a power cab anyways

just meant for the bass, to be clear. i have a whole rig for guitar and thinking about moving it is going to give me hives.

 

@phaynes12 everyone’s telling me to go that direction but I’m the stubborn boomer nerd who wants to hear the actual tube breakup even if I gotta carry 100 pounds upstairs and damage my hearing long-term to make that happen lol

(That said I play 15-30 watt tube combo amps not 50-100 watt tube stacks)

 

as i kinda said above, i wouldn’t do this for guitar. i agree with you for that haha. doesnt matter for bass since most bass amps are solid state anyways.

 

Yeah I’m actually not going to use powercab for guitar, just gonna go Helix to PA. Just powercabbing for practice and for the bass

 

i tried that for a long time for guitar and i’m either dogshit at making profiles (likely) or the whole tube thing is real and no matter how good digital gets they can’t quite replicate it (also likely)

and most helix distortion replications are pretty shitty. they’re great for reverb and delay but some of the distortions it’s like why did you even bother with this bullshit

 

That’s the thing - I went out and bought a big ass tube bass amp too lmfao

and I didn’t want an Ampeg like 99% of bassists in punk rock so I went and found me an Ashdown. The CTM series (their high end tube line) were never produced in the states so they are RARE here… but I found a used one at less than half its list price in New Jersey the week I babysat @spiffa0 ‘s dog and he drove me to get it before I left lol. Spiff the real MVP

I like my profiles but yeah it’s a LOT easier to miss than it is to hit

 

Needless to say Terrain is gonna be T O N E especially on future records. This one was fun but next time imma be spending way more time experimenting with different guitar tones for each lil riff and home recording them rather than sticking to one general setting per song in the studio and only changing it with pedals
