I'm bad at texting which probably doesn't help in friendship cultivation

Sometimes Dave will text me and I won't respond for 4 hours just because I forget I have a phone

 

She’s already married and you’re Murph, I am correct in my stance on the subject.

A lot of my real life friends are good people but I’ve had a hard time relating to them lately and feel out of place when we hang out because it feels like the only time they do wanna get together it’s just a lot of drinking and it’s just loud and I get overstimulated and have a bad time. Feel extremely isolated lately and it’s definitely just kind of put me into a bigger depressive spell than I’ve been in for a bit.

none of our friends have kids either so the disconnect there is tough at times because when they do want to do something they make plans last minute and I can’t find a babysitter that quick.

 

I completely get that. It's like dating, where you have to find out more about the person to see if its gonna work. Im good

I feel like being in my position, where I have kids and also don't always have my kids here, puts me in a weird in-between spot where my friends are either people who have difficulty being available (like you, which is totally understandable of course) or people who only do things that I am just not in a place in my life to do (like you're describing)

 

Why pay for counseling when I can POST

 

My friendship circle has dwindled down a bit over the years (people moving, families, etc) so I have a handful of close friends I still hang out with a bit which honestly is enough for me personally. But I’m probably gonna join a basketball/running club this spring just to meet others and “branch out”.

100% get that my main friend group is like 8 or so dudes and there are 2-3 that I don’t think I’ve texted separately or hung out with 1 on 1 in years. Just nothing in common anymore or anything to relate to so I just see them once or twice a year when everyone meets up for whatever.

 

the idea of dating was absolutely horrifying to me at first but, its been mostly fun (ex mormon flight attendants aside)

 

but even that was fun

 

hey you guys went to disney together, not all bad

 

I should probably try and find a new therapist it’s been a minute and I’ve been struggling lately
