Something truly wild about Eli Manning and Adam Vinatieri on the outside looking in of a class that has a combined 0 Super Bowl wins

Did he win it for playing out of position or for making videos about how much he eats as a defensive lineman?

This is the 2nd NFL honor the Jags have ever won. The 1st was also a defensive tackle in his first year with the Jags after coming from an NFC west team

Also I’m joking, he’s done great things for both SF and Jax communities in his career

Joe Flacco also was basically average except for one elite Super Bowl run; not only are we not even talking about his HOF candidacy, it'd be disqualifying for anyone to even discuss it.

Eli couldnt even make the Pro Bowl for like 80% of his career, let alone sniff an MVP vote. The only thing he's ever led the league in is interceptions, a feat he accomplished about as many times as he made the Pro Bowl. He's why teams have rings of honor. Him making the HOF devalues everyone else that's made it in.

Also, that 80% threshold is precisely the kind of thing that'll keep him out

i understand that. it’s a team that’s in the argument for having the best single season of any team ever. the coach should win for that.

eli getting in does not devalue ken stabler or kurt warner lol be for real

I place so so so so SO much more importance on "this dude was a focal point of a championship run" over regular season stats. Couldn't possibly care less about his ints lol

Like it's a team game so I don't want to inherently hold not winning against you (hi Antonio Gates), but I think when you do win, and you're the reason why your team wins, it should count as some mega bonus points.

It does that's why he's a ring of honor guy

Actually, yeah it does for Warner. Dude actually won the MVP award. Actually led the league in multiple categories. Its impossible to argue statistics for the older QBs (see: Joe Namath), but, in the modern, post-2000 NFL, Eli being in would truly be a joke.

I'm just gonna opt out of this conversation by saying we clearly view hall-of-fames differently.

Eli was the focal point of one Super Bowl run. The 2007-08 one, you cannot possibly argue he was key to. Never broke 250yds, and led an offense that scored 17pts solely because of a miraculous catch. I think its fair to credit the defense that held (at the time) the most prolific offense in NFL history, that averaged 37pts a game, to only 14 points as the "focal point".

And so, again, if being the focal point of a single super bowl run boosts you, we gotta legit talk HOF'er Joe Flacco, as he was even statistically better in his SB run than Eli was
