I should phrase it more like, Philly is known for a lot of things but the food isn’t one of them, there’s some good options but as a whole the cuisine isn’t anything special

i’m not getting into one of these arguments again. you’re doing the thing where you’re being loud and emphatically presenting your take, which isn’t any more or less informed than anyone else’s, and presenting it as a fact. it’s goofy. not gonna say you’re wrong since it’s just an opinion but come on.

Haven’t been to NOLA but DC food is fine. Simmer down. Plenty of good and bad places there as well. It’s almost like you have to know where to go in each city!

For one thing, yes, everything I’m saying is an opinion, just automatically assume that haha. I don’t see you saying “in my opinion” before every sentence when you critique people for not liking Deafheaven lol but I know it’s an opinion so I don’t get upset over it

for another thing, no, my opinion isn’t “more right” than anyone else’s but it is based on fairly extensive experience in the cities I do talk about a lot. I say less and speak less confidently about places I’ve been less - that’s logical, no?

One of most popular pieces of Philadelphia media of all time is named after a joke about how awful the weather is.

It’s not that different from Baltimore’s. Only slightly colder

I think many parts of the country have much worse weather. Hate how much rain the PNW gets, hate how extreme temp-wise the desert and mountain and Great Plains regions are, hate how the Midwest & upper northeast have winter forever, hate the south’s unrelenting 3 months of 90+ and humid

    mid Atlantic balances it all

lol i hate the philly summer more then winter. its basically the start of a giant swamp to the east and add in the fact theres so little space there thats not aspalt the heatwaves there are MISERABLE

Everywhere has heat waves, as someone from Florida I’m glad those 90+ days are only like 3-4 days at a time up here haha. Would it be ideal if it never got that hot, yes, but generally you can’t have that without either 1) a very rainy climate 2) a very cold winter 3) being on a tropical island that doesn’t even have seasons. So for the sake of balance I’ll deal with a few very hot and sticky days

I enjoyed Nashville, DC and Chicago a lot.

Portland and Portsmouth too but they’re far more local.

NYC I like for a couple of days and then i want OUT

Philly I’ve been to twice and idk, I didn’t hate it but it’s not super high on my list to go back to

NOLA I spent a handful of days in but yeah, wasn’t my favorite.

Fair points all around. Every winter I’ve been flying there they have seen snow, so I assumed they saw it fairly regularly! That’s my bad.

The location is definitely better for getting to the airport as a passenger. Flying-wise it is in a terrible location, and the airspace is far too congested to be safe, in my opinion. Unfortunately we are learning that real-time right now.

I don’t hate the city talk too much tbh because I don’t really know where I’ll live next. Job may decide if but I may have some control. So it’s good to see what some of you fucks have to say.

Seattle or Chicago top the list.

  18. Philly is good if only considering fishtown, northern liberties, passyunk

Chicago way bigger, has a lot more to offer urban-wise as a result

    Seattle nature destroys Illinois though
