I've been going through as many emails and documentation as I can, and here is the conclusion I'm left with:

• Their lawyer was a dick about the language in the Purchase and Sale, trying to force in terms that could have resulted in us being homeless.
• They were late to sign the finalized Purchase and Sale and went silent until it was signed.
• They were late to pay their down payment and went silent until it was paid.
• They were lying to their mortgage lender about their debts and income.
• They were late to secure financing.
• They were ultimately denied financing, and their only hope of getting it approved was selling their house in the span of two days.
