The influencer lawsuit that could change the industry

This is a good long read and made me want to pull my hair out

 

Yeah but also it’s probably a bad outcome where a meaningless and often harmful trade makes so much more money than much more helpful trades. More of a problem with capitalism than with the app though

 

I honestly don’t care. It doesn’t effect me either way and it seems to make people happy.

I go on Twitter and it’s now just Elon musk conservative bullshit and porn. And I just can’t commit to the “new twitter” of the month that craps out shortly after.

All social media is bad for us in general, but unfortunately it’s what I grew up into and just can’t stop using it. I have em all.

And Tik Tok was easily the best out of all of them for what I used it for, as it actually benefited me for hobbies I like. Seeing clips on reels 3 months later and a paid ad for boobs on Twitter or my aunt not giving FB permission to use her photos by sharing this post did not compare lol

 

I feel like you and Josh see the negative to this app. Where I think it’s just as powerful as IG and no one seems to care about that one as much.


I don’t know the political aspect of the ban completely so if it has more to do with that then I got nothin.

 

The political aspect is all there is and that’s exactly where I agree with you lol I wasn’t arguing with you. Like I said before I’ve seen climate activists use the app to good success and I think losing it is a net loss.

If they really cared about data farming from Chinese apps, they’d ban stuff like Pokemon Go. The main reason is to control the spread of information that the government doesn’t want being spread imo.

Not saying all of it is factual and of course there is crazy misinformation like with the vaccines and stuff, but I can almost guarantee you that is the main reason.

I’d assume it’s because they can’t control it since it is based in another country. Whereas they could tell Zuck to tighten up. They don’t care that Meta is now going to allow calling queer/trans people crazy, insane, etc.

 

TikTok is the only social media I really used because my fyp was always just full of comedy and people fostering cats lol.

 

TikTok can stay but BookTok and FilmTok have to go back to school.

Also bought the next 2 books in the Stormlight Archive. Love this series so much!!!

(A series I would not have discovered or been motivated to read if not for Tik Tok!)

 

also as someone who is trying to publish a book, I am relieved I don't have to make a Tiktok because if you do it right you can pull hella readers over there

The Tik tok ban is stupid because trump is so obviously going to bring it back and it’s going to seem like a “win” for him among so many impressionable people and that’s bad for everyone
