It just seems to me like a misevaluation of the roster and the culture. I think veterans are more likely than not going to want the veteran who gives them a better chance to play over the raw rookie who needs the reps because it makes them look better as individual players (doesn’t excuse Colts players dropping passes from Richardson though).

I genuinely think there’s something to the culture that Irsay and Ballard have built in recent years where they’ve constantly chased veteran QBs that weren’t the answer, but made them competitive enough to make the playoffs. I imagine there are several players who were around for the Rivers and Wentz years that are still here now and are used to competing in December and January to get invited to the dance. Then, when they FINALLY decide to go the route of the rookie, Richardson’s season ends early and the team almost makes the playoffs with Minshew.

I just think there is truly something to the cultural makeup I that organization where this team, from the players to the coaching staff to the front office to the owner, were so used to competing for those 9- or 10-win seasons with Luck, Brissett, Rivers, Wentz, and Minshew where I do honestly think this team has viewed themselves closer to contention than they ever honestly were and now they find themselves in purgatory where I question if everyone is aligned.

What’s happening in Indy right now is low key giving me Wentz/Foles vibes. They’re obviously two different situations, but the results are the same: a locker room split between two QBs.

the only thing that kinda makes me think it won’t really happen is, outside of OKC, there isn’t really a fit for assets that is close to winning. giannis isn’t going to leave to be on a team that is outside of the playoffs without him, so houston is kinda out. the knicks blew it on KAT too soon. nola, miami and orlando don’t have the assets. it’s kinda just OKC and maybe GSW. even if he does request a trade, he’s kind of limited on his options of a team that can swing it and win

    The rivalry is back on

I like the Wentz parallel too because he’s the other QB who comes to mind who has a somewhat similar mix of raw talent and (at least outwardly appearing) aloof, indifferent disposition that doesn’t translate to success at the QB position or inspire confidence of a locker room

I also obv like that parallel for hope in the offest of chances it ends in a ring for IND
