I hit a curb not even that hard, because there was a very narrow street with parking taking up half of it, and a car was coming the opposite direction. So I tried to squeeze to my side of the street and my back tire very routinely went over the curb, but apparently Pittsburgh streets, particularly, can have pieces of metal jutting out from curbs, and the people I’m staying with said it has happened to them and their neighbors too

Fucking curb sliced the sidewall of my tire, which is not repairable

 

I’d prefer it not be

 

The good news is the other three tires were very new when I bought the car and might still have a lot of tread on them. If they are worn less than 2/32 of an inch they’re still good to pair with a brand new tire without messing up my AWD/differential. Otherwise, I literally would have to buy four tires today.

On top of that, I discovered that my specific trim of my specific Subaru is the only model they released that has a full-size spare, so I may not even need to buy a replacement if I can confirm that it’s the same exact kind of tire. May just need the tires rotated, which would come with the oil change I already need

Long story short it was a really dumb fuckin way to cost myself hundreds. It wasn’t like I slammed the curb and blew out my tire. If I did that in another city it would’ve been fine and not damaged

 

Hope my full size spare is the same tire. NTB is the only tire shop nearby that’s open Sundays and they can’t order the Yokohama Avid GT 225/60 R18 100H tires I need to match the others. There’s a chance I might have to wait for a Subaru shop to open tomorrow to get OEM tires

 

that happened to my wife and I on a road trip to Florida. Blew out a tire on 95 in bumfuck NC, tried a local tire shop with no luck and had to get towed 90 minutes to the Volvo dealer after spending the night. All with the dog.
