Managing account permissions is a tricky thing, so it's not a surprise to see certain aspects to slip through the cracks. But if they're going to be goofy about it, they should just pay for your remaining time and cut you loose.

 

Curious how this was determined considering the Eagles have had a league-average passing offense this year and I believe the worst of Hurts’ four years as a starter (2021-2024). I can find whatever metric(s) was/were measured, but I think it was success rate and/or EPA.

Hurts also has the highest percentage of his drop backs resulting in either a scramble, sack, or throwaway in his career so far at nearly 25%. Those scrambles must be doing a heavy lifting.

I think the likely answer is having Barkley limits Hurts individual success.

I’ll have to revisit a podcast or two I listened to this week, but as awesome as Saquon has been, the Eagles had the most efficient rushing offense in the league back in 2022 with Miles Sanders at RB. I think the Eagles rank around fifth in rushing efficiency this year, again either in succeeds rate or EPA.

Obviously, I’m not saying Sanders is better than Saquon. Sanders was league average, at best, on an individual level with the Eagles. I think it’s just that Hurts and the passing offense were playing at a higher level in 2022 than they are this year, which led to more rushing efficiency that year.

 

Do you think Hurts has regressed since 2022?

This is not me saying “omg Hurts is dogshit put in McKee.” I think Hurts had largely been solid-good this year, but the passing offense just has not passed the eye test and it’s very much a Hurts/Sirianni/Moore thing. Kellen Moore was brought in to add more creative elements to the offense, yet it has somehow resulted in a worse passing offense.

I don’t know how to divide the blame up between the three of them, but that’s part of the reason why I would have pause if I was a fan of a team interviewing Kellen Moore to be their head coach

For sure. He was more spry as a runner and wasn’t turning the ball over as much as he did last year and earlier this season. He hasn’t been attacking down the field as much this season either, but I think that’s more of a coaching thing in order to limit turnovers because he was making some truly stupid, backbreaking decisions earlier this season.

He’s certainly not a bad QB, but I’d say he’s trending closer towards league average than an MVP candidate like he was in 2022

 

He’s also been holding onto the football longer than he ever has before and, while part of that can be attributed to what he brings as a scrambler, part of it is that he struggles more against zone coverages than he does against man
