I think if McDaniel gave up play calling, he COULD be really good. I really think that its too much for him to do at once given his personality. I still think he is a really good designer.

 

I’m gonna be so annoyed if the search is like Vrabel and a bunch of nobodies. I want the most thorough search. This should be treated by the Krafts as the most desirable job, not just a handover to Vrabel

Yup. Last year they butchered it by doing ZERO searching. And if they just hand it to Vrabel without doing a real search it’s sorta just like cmon, did not learn anything?? lol

 

This year they HAVE to do a search because of the Rooney rule. I just hope it’s a real one.

speaking of Ben Johnson, how does he feel about JJ McCarthy (trade #13 to Minnesota for him)?

 

I’d like to see this before we look for someone new, either Smith or Bevell. Mostly because I like McDaniel and don’t see or know of anyone else who makes this team better by next season. It’s either continue to build with McDaniel or rebuild with someone else, which is most likely a 2-3 year wait either way.

I think they have enough pieces to compete next year, but they have to get serious about getting tougher and getting better guard play. They can re-tool. The problem is as long as this regime is here, they will not place a priority on these things.

 

Haven’t liked the lack of continuity between the years, like learning a new defense yearly, so I’m a little adverse to rehauling again.

Unless McDaniel finds a new QB, just feels like he’s a bit too tied to Tua, and this current teams goes as far as he goes. But that doesn’t feel likely in either FA or draft.
