The refs calling that a TD initially is one of the dumbest calls I’ve ever seen. No chance the ref could see that in real time.

And the replay was obvious. Three guys with their hands on the ball as they come down. No one has possession. Then next time you see the ball it is clearly moving around.

Common sense prevailed.

but these takes are correct. If the deliberations take forever there’s no reason to overturn the previous call because it was clearly too close to tell. Refs don’t deserve a bailout for making the wrong initial call if they can’t quickly get it right

I just hate that logic. There’s no way they could tell anything live. It was an awful decision to call it a TD initially. And even so, the replay made it obvious no player had control of the ball at any point. Multiple guys had their hands on it. 1-2 of them landed out of bounds while touching it. The correct outcome happened. I think it’s silly to avoid the correct decision just because there wasn’t a perfect angle of everything.

 

Then correct it faster idk. If it’s an awful decision and an incorrect one you should know pretty fast that it was incorrect while deliberating. Just do your jobs at a higher level

 

Agreed. They should’ve called it faster. But in the end, they made the correct decision. So the length of time it took doesn’t matter to me.

 

I don’t see anyone can watch the replay and say, yeah, that’s a TD. And therefore, it should not be a TD. Regardless of what the dumdum refs said initially.

 

Yeah that’s really my biggest gripe in the logical progression as someone who is literally just catching up on the thread and watched 0 seconds of the actual game so all with a grain of salt from me of course
