SEC won’t add a 9th game (terrible look) until they know what the playoff changes could be (coward look) and because of this, they might’ve just decided to not protect “secondary rivalries” and are soft launching a fan response to it via the rumor mill.

Off the top of my head, this would end the following as annual games:

Tennessee-Alabama/Kentucky
Georgia-Auburn/South Carolina
Texas-Texas A&M
LSU-Alabama/Florida

Even the Big 10 knew better than to get rid of certain rivalries. Iowa has like four protected rivalries ffs. Idiotic look.

Pretty sure the protected rivalries would be:

Tennessee-Vandy
Auburn-Alabama
Georgia-Florida
Miss St-Ole Miss
Texas-Oklahoma
LSU-Arkansas

which leaves these two “rivalries” I guess
Texas A&M-Mizzou
South Carolina-Kentucky
