I think we can walk and chew gum though. I consider myself pro-labor, but that doesn’t mean a situation can’t be bad or a worker not be in the wrong. He took a shot to use his leverage and it didn’t work for Tennessee. He will likely land somewhere and still make good money. Like most things in life, I think there is a good way and not so good way to go about getting what you want. In this case, I think Nico and his camp chose the latter.

Kinda going back to what @Fucking Dustin said yesterday, though. Is ~$6m from Tennessee and a direct pipeline into the NFL less than going for this stunt and losing your contracted money and draft stock on “off the field issues” and potentially making less across the entire career?

I totally get seeing dollar signs and wanting to go for more, but if that’s the case, go in the prior window where there’s a much more likely opportunity to get paid. Most teams are locked into their rosters and depth charts by now.

I know this may be reductive (if that’s the right word) but in other sports when there’s a holdout the star player is usually better

I think if Nico was playing like a guy who could hold out for that money people would feel differently

I think Beck is a moron, but he’s a talented moron, and now that he’s no longer dating that Miami basketball player, he could do something very funny and come to Knoxville.

Beck also was between entering the draft and transferring which feels pretty different than not having that draft option at the time of wanting money

Yup. We’re seeing a lot of NBA prospects choosing senior NCAA seasons making more than NBA rookie contracts for a reason. Eventually that had to pop up in the football side of things when you look at what Purdy makes vs even Nico, lol.

It should be noted that Beck is not dating her anymore because he was doing shady shit and DMing/snapchatting other girls lmao. Seems like the pinnacle of character you’d want after what just happened.

Yeah Russell Wilson won a Super Bowl making much much less than Nico

I’m curious how this all ends up working out for Ewers given that he turned down a deal to enter the draft

Oh yeah no, it’s totally in jest. One of my best friends is a GTech fan and we would bond over the latest stupid Snapchat leak all fall last year.

I did think he’d be much better this season, but this got a good laugh out of me.
