I think a big part of the issue with foul baiting is that the officials are inconsistent with calling things, especially with regards to the changes the league tried to implement a few years ago. If the ref is going to reward a player for jumping into the defender on what is obviously not a basketball shooting motion, why wouldn't players take advantage of that?

i try to be an even-keeled fan as i recognize and dislike offensive players initiating contact and getting rewarded for it while also noting that the one player on the team who does it, does it at a lower pace overall than many other previous stars.

But at the same time, it is frustrating basketball to watch Shai get all of the calls he does, and on the other end Caruso and others can MAUL Jokic every time he touches the ball and nothing gets called. I get it, it's part of the NBA as it currently exists, but it doesn't have to be that way

 

Yeah Caruso has gotten a lot of leeway in his defense of jokic, who at the same time could just push the little ass white boy to the paint and shoot over him. he'd do it sometimes but like not often enough. just something the big guys can always do.

that's my only guess for why little guys can defend more handsy against big dudes and have it not get whistled. they can't exactly stop a big pushing them all the way to the rim so they are allowed to do more in other ways. i dunno. just my thought in why it may get allowed (not that it should)
