honest question, do you legit not think that you guys moved from Seattle and that their history is also OKC's history? or is this just a bit?

 

i think the thing leagues do of keeping the record books the same when a team relocates and or rebrands is dumb. Russell Westbrook never played for the Seattle Supersonics. His numbers should never be used in relation to players that played for the Sonics. Just a pet peeve lol

 

like, the sonics ceased to exist in 2008. they're defunct. if a new team takes the sonics branding, reactivate those record books

 

yeah but no sport does this haha. I guess OKC kind of has a point because it was new ownership who kind of strong armed themselves out of Seattle because of the arena dispute

 

the nfl did it with the dead browns and the ravens IIRC

 

the washington nationals are not the montreal expos. theyre the washington nationals. the montreal expos dont get retroactive credit for winning a WS in 2019.

history for a team can remain in the history books but it does not transfer. thats dumb and silly.

 

most major teams that relocate keep the branding I guess. like the chargers, rams and raiders

of course I have some sympathy for former sonics fans but like, it's been almost 20 years lol
