For those who want the season shortened, how many games are you thinking? I’ve never really been crazy about the idea because it’s been 82 for so long. But I definitely hate seeing the best players get hurt in the playoffs. Also, would you want the playoff series shortened to best of 5 or something? Or just the regular season?

maybe shorten the season by the average number of games it takes to lock in a top 6 spot over the last 30 years? Idk. Seems like by games 70 - 76 we mostly know who’s in the top 6 barring the battle for specific seeds. might be a better sweet spot? Could shave a series worth of postseason games off the total combined reg/playoff games.

 

I’d love to see something far more radical like 62 (expand the league to 32, each team plays each other twice), but honestly just doing whatever amount means teams never have back to backs would be acceptable.

 

A 76 to 82-game season is fine.

Just find a way to eliminate back to backs. Thats the real disadvantage.

We don’t need 9 days off for all-star-break. We don’t need the In-Season Tournament. There’s no reason for teams to have 3 to 4 days off at any point of the schedule.

Give or take, there are 27 weeks to an NBA season. An average of 3 games of week turns into 81 games. 3 games a week is a fair expectation.
