I know Jamal Murray has been anywhere from really good to dogwater for awhile now but comparing this Denver roster to the 2000’s Cleveland roster around LeBron is wild lol go look at those lineups please

  4. 2007 LeBron is winning 4 straight titles with Jamal Murray, MPJ and Christian Braun

It’s weird, I think Jokic is at his best when his teammates play well. He can’t really take over games himself, all his 50+ games have been L’s. He adds the most value when he can orchestrate the offense.

There’s an argument here about raising a team’s floor vs. raising a team’s ceiling, but if his teams keep putting up bricks what can he do?

I mean, every year people get snubbed that should be MVP (Luka's historical year last year), but that doesn't mean the person who gets it/got it wasn't deserving. It's a fickle award at the end of the day and is based on the whims of guys who typically have a lot of bias going into the voting, or vote based on really weird arbitrary bullshit (some years record mattering, others not, for example). There's never a CLEAR criteria for it and the goal posts move constantly depending on who the front runners are. That's just a fact. I can see it going to SGA or Jokic but am fully aware it will most certainly be SGA, and rightfully so.

The comment wasn't to say that LeBron's Cavs teams vs. Jokic's Nuggets teams are the exact same, I'm well aware those Cavs teams were worse, it was used as a comparison to highlight why I thought the question was irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Which version of these players are you getting? Because if you watch enough Nuggets basketball, you can pretty clearly see that both Murray and MPJ can actively play their way to a loss with how badly they are capable of playing, despite Jokic setting them up and facilitating. As @incognitojones said, he's getting them the looks, but they too often brick them

This is the last comment I'll respond to on this because you clearly don't watch the Nuggets play much. Jokic CAN be a good defender and often steps it up in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line because he doesn't have to worry about foul trouble as much and can afford to exert the energy. Earlier in his career he would get into foul trouble, and it would cost the Nuggets games (this happened in the bubble vs. the Lakers)

He plays the game very differently than a traditional, defensive center, or even the more modern centers who can stretch yet still play good defense. He is the team's entire offense, no other center can say that. In the past, the Nuggets have had a few other good/solid defenders to surround him with, which largely worked out. This year, with the loss of KCP, Aaron Gordon in and out of the lineup, and Westbrook playing so many minutes, the team's defense is absolutely atrocious (and Murray/MPJ have never been good defenders). Braun HAS largely filled the KCP role on defense, but his offense is worse so I'm not sure what to make of the trade-off yet.

So, with all that said, why would he exert all the extra energy on defense, when it would in-turn make the offense suffer? Which again, he has to facilitate EVERYTHING. It's a trade-off that has, for the most part worked out, until this year when the team defense has been dogwater.
