What I was referring to was not just the fan votes - it was fan votes, media rank and player votes. I don't know if coach votes are ever made public.

Well apparently Trae Young was next on the coach’s list and it will be the same for the west. Guessing Sabonis but who knows what they really did.

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't..

    It's Adam Silver's pick.

  8. The stuff around this Mark Williams trade is weird. It still doesn’t seem to be officially rescinded. The Nurkic deal we did afterward also hasn’t been completed. It’s all a mess. Just bc the Lakers had buyer’s regret.

  9. Mark Williams with one leg might be better than Hayes with two legs.

Idk if it’s buyers regret but that dude might be really fucked up body wise.

but I love that the first thing Luka did was outreach in the community before he even played a minute of basketball in LA. Dude's character is through the roof.

  18. Pelinka saying the Hornets approached him about the trade.
ESPN report says Luka hand-picked Williams as the C to target.
Hornets say Lakers aggressively pursued Williams.

Someone is lying. And now we’re stuck with Nurkic when we only did that deal because Williams was gone.

I know no one else cares about this haha but it’s weird af to me.

    it is absolutely very weird

my take is the hornets wanted to offload him and thought he’d be able to sneak through the physical and then he did not

  20. I think the Hornets were certainly happy to offload him. Why else would you trade a seemingly promising young center? But I don’t necessarily believe they tried to trick anyone. And it’s not like they pawned him off cheaply. They received a pretty significant offer so they took it.

The Lakers were reportedly able to see his medical records before the trade was done, and even put out a statement to spin it as not a big deal. Then suddenly they pivoted. And maybe there is a legit reason for the pivot.

But there needs to be more transparency in that process. Or at least a standard of how that process is carried out. As the tweet I posted above says, who determines that it’s a failed physical? Is there a standard test done for these physicals? Or is it arbitrary to where a team can just decide, nah he doesn’t pass? How does one fail a physical when he’s been healthy and playing?

To me, it sounds like they knew about the injury history and they weren’t concerned about it because it was reportedly who Luka wanted. So they pulled the trigger. Then they started to sweat once he was in the building. And they backed out.

If someone is lying about how it all went down, and someone is, fingers point to Lakers imo.
