He doesn’t just make a pick though, it’s the next guy with votes. He’s not gonna pull something wild and get Thanasis in there.

 

You have now seen several different posts where it specifically says Silver makes the pick. If it were what you were saying, there would be no need for him to step in. While I agree he won’t do something wild, he can pick from several potential all-stars who were on the outside looking in. And because both injuries are big men, he may look to select a big man. Or he may not. It’s his choice.

 

Here’s a third post telling you Silver picks the replacement and it’s not just the next man up.

 

Okay, now to focus on the Knicks finally making it back to the Eastern Conference finals

 

Now I hope he does pick someone out of left field because he technically can instead of just the frontcourt player with the most votes who didn’t make it

I can only find the starters voting results, but guessing Sabonis will be the other replacement.

For what it's worth - LaMelo Ball was next in line for voting results. Paulo Banchero was second, Trae Young was third.

 

That’s the fan fan vote for the starters, not the coach’s vote for the reserves. I don’t think it was made public, or at least I can’t find it.
