I keep seeing people online make jokes about teams trading 2031 picks and it’s like man do you not know the rules

 

Mark Williams gone will hurt a little bit but I get it. He’s a 7 footer with back and foot injuries. He’s missed more games than he’s played. It’s year 3 which means he’s getting an extension soon. Just feels like a good time to try and get something for him.

With that said, Williams will absolutely pop off fairly immediately for the Lakers. And everyone will laugh at the Hornets (always deserved). But despite his size, he isn’t very good defensively. He can block shots but a lot of centers had huge games against him.

Both teams taking a risk on his health. Could be a big pickup for Lakers. But I’m ultimately fine moving on from a 7 footer that doesn’t defend well and has back/foot injuries.

I’m sure this will spark even more Lamelo trade talk but I’d still be very surprised if he’s moved anytime soon.
