The outrage here is because of the two different tiers here. Yes Davis is good but he’s not league MVP type. Can’t lead a team solo, which he won’t have to in Dallas. And then yeah the lack of picks. Then factor in the age, Luka can play a lot longer with his style than Davis could even if he wasn’t already broken down.

There's a quote from Nico about how he knew teams would be (obviously) "loading up" to go after Luka if he hit free agency, and yet he ignored that concept entirely and didn't bother even listening to other offers.

Dallas already owes a ton of future 1sts, which makes this return even worse. They have their own this year and next, but then owe their '27, '28, and '29 picks. And San Antonio has swap rights on Dallas' 1st in 2030.

One of the worst parts of this is that Rob Pelinka will come out looking really good, when he simply had to convince himself Nico wasn't joking and nod his head.
