AD is on the back end of his career while Luka, barring his injury is not way worse than is being reported, is still in the early stages of his prime and a MVP candidate when healthy. Make it make sense

Absolutely terrible trade for the Mavs future but I actually had this same thought. They've locked themselves into a "win now or bust" situation. If they win, will it be worth it? I think if the Mavs win as many or more championships than Luka in his career, it might be worth it. But that's a long way to go before we see if that's the case.

Honestly though, it's even a bit baffling from the Lakers point of view as well. This deal essentially fell from the sky into their hands. I'd be very suspicious.
