Levis is great and I would be VERY upset if I get scooped for him by Swoos or Beard

With the 2nd overall pick the Houston Texans select Bryce Young, QB, Alabama

Demeco Ryans, an Alabama almuni, gets his QB from his alma mater. Young's ability to extend plays, keep his eyes downfield and create positive plays under pressure outweigh his size concerns that may have turned some teams away from him. Caserio and Ryans will need to further add talent to the IOL to keep pressure away from Young in the pocket but he will be well proctected on the edges by Tunsil/Howard. The Texans get their new franchise QB.

Just make sure you draft small IOL. Possibly small OTs while you’re at it

  12. Carolina Panthers select CJ Stroud, QB, Ohio State

The Panthers have spent the early days of this offseason building an offensive staff tailored towards QB development. The combination of Frank Reich, Jim Caldwell, and Josh McCown makes Carolina an ideal landing spot for any rookie QB. Especially when you also consider the huge jump we saw in the quality of the offensive line last year. Retaining James Campen as OL coach as well as another year of familiarity between the players themselves (we basically had 4 new starters on the line in 2022), I think the line will continue to grow and be even better in the 2023 season.

I think both Bryce and CJ are worthy of the trading up for in this draft and I'd be happy with either player. However, I personally give a slight edge to CJ because of his size. And while I admit you can't look at one game to define a player, I think CJ answered a lot of questions in the semi-final against Georgia. A big criticism of him has always been "he has way more talent than all of his opponents" but against the toughest opponent of his career he had by far the best performance we've seen from him. I think at the core of it all, he has all the tools and athleticism to be a good starting QB in the league with the potential to be a great starting QB. Doesn't mean he'll definitely reach that potential but the traits are there. I've also seen people question whether or not he has the arm strength to be a top QB but I don't understand that criticism. He was consistently great at the sideline throws from the opposite hash and he has shown a nice deep ball throughout his time at OSU. I also see a lot of examples of his mobility standing out despite not putting up huge rushing stats. He has great movement in the pocket and has made a lot of phenomenal throws under pressure and while on the run.

We've ignored drafting a QB early for several years which stinks but it's also put us in a position to bring in a rookie and it not be a dreadful situation. The last handful of first round picks have been on defense and has allowed us to build a very solid young unit. We addressed the OL last offseason. As said before, we've hired a staff ideal for a young QB. The team is in a perfect spot to grab a young QB and I think Stroud is a great prospect.

Preemptively giving Elf an F on his Arizona draft for trading that pick to Carolina without taking them to the cleaners or reaching out to Indianapolis

With the 4th pick, the Indianapolis Colts select Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida

I don’t think it’s any secret that the Colts are drafting a QB here. Chris Ballard has always been one to draft on athletic traits and measureables above all else, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them get excited about Levis and/or Richardson and have them above Bryce Young on their board. I think Stroud is the clear QB1 in this class, but he’s not an option here.

I went Richardson over Levis for IND because:
    - I think the upside of Richardson is higher
    - Levis feels too similar to Carson Wentz in terms of strengths/weaknesses/glaring downsides with decision making, and if they’re gonna fail, I think they’ll at least fail differently
    - the Steichen hire positions them about as well as they can to try to replicate what works in Philadelphia to develop Jalen Hurts
    - Richardson doesn’t put mayonnaise in his coffee

  16. Seattle Seahawks select Will Anderson JR, EDGE, Alabama

    BPA. BPA. BPA.

Elite prospect that fills a need and a prime position. Three QBs in the top 4 picks is dream scenario for Seattle. There's no reason to even think about going another direction with this pick.

Maybe Indy shoulda been more aggressive in their talks with Chicago :)

  21. TRADE!!!

Green Bay Packers trade Aaron Rodgers + pick #15 to the Las Vegas Raiders for pick #7 + #39 + 2024 2nd rounder

Rodgers loved his 4 days of darkness so much, he is heading to the Raiders black hole.

I had zero intention of making this move, but to do so without losing a single first round pick or mortgaging our future? Kinda can’t say no to that.

  23. Yeah, it feels light on the surface, but Rodgers is 38 years old and could retire at any moment. So I don’t think Packers would get nearly the haul that the general media has suggested. Moving into the top 10 and getting a couple seconds from a cursed franchise seems ok to me.
