Cincinnati Bengals select Dawand Jones, OT, Ohio State

La'El Collins is almost certainly not playing next year. I would rather he play without an ACL and MCL than have to watch the atrocity that was the right side of the Bengals line last year. Jonah isn't off my shit list either but he can at least somewhat play. Dawand eats glass, a requirement of Frank Pollack's, and has an almost 90" wingspan, which by my very quick research would give him the longest arms of any offensive lineman in at least a decade.

    The New Orleans Saints select:

Lukas Van Ness - Defensive End - Iowa

Taking the scheme versatile power rusher that can play outside/in opposite Cam Jordan (for the last few seasons of Jordan's career).

  5. i can't get over how this is like their 4th DE pick in recent years and this is still both a need and a good pick

we joke about all of the gap gymnastics New Orleans uses, but it really did screw them out of being able to retain Trey Hendrickson

At 31, the Philadelphia Eagles select Anton Harrison, OT, Oklahoma

I don't think the Eagles are going to use both of their first round picks. I see them trading down with one in order to recoup some picks for later in the draft because, after the third round, they only have two sevenths. For this exercise though, they stay put and draft their RT of the future to develop behind Lane Johnson, who stated during the season he plans to play for another season or two. Much like with Andre Dillard, this team loves to build through the trenches and is forward-thinking about them. Even if he doesn't start until 2024 or 2025, he can be valuable depth and compete with Jack Driscoll for the backup swing tackle position. Or perhaps they have Harrison initially learn RT and move Driscoll over to be the backup LT. Maybe Driscoll becomes a backup IOL because they need depth there too. Regardless, the Eagles are planning for the future with this pick.

KC selects Antonio Johnson, Safety, Texas A&M

probably losing Juan Thornhill in free agency, doesn’t feel right to pick a receiver this early (unless they trade up in real life for someone)

With the 34th pick the Houston Texans select WR Zay Flowers, Boston College

With the likely departure of Brandin Cooks via trade the Texans add Zay Flowers to a WR corp that's pretty barren outside of the promise of Nico Collins and John Metchie returning from leukemia. Flowers is an impressive route runner and playmaker, which is something the Texans have severly lacked recently.
