probably doesn't help that i'm not really a team poster, my cubs fandom is nearly nonexistent

look all I'm saying is that there are 30 baseball teams and even with shorter games this year there's really NO reason that there shouldn't be a game going from roughly noon to midnight in my time zone 7 days a week

i see a compromise on this coming in the near future - if a batter exceeds the 8 second limit, they're (1) allowed timeout is automatically called by the umpire and used. throughout the rest of the AB, there can then be no TOs called.

it looks like Manny realized he was taking too long and tried to call time out but then was given the auto strike bc he didnt do it fast enough. he definitely didnt seem caught off guard by the violation though, so maybe he knew what he was doing.

 

The batter part of this rule is still absurd, especially with how the ump can interpret the batter not being ready as we've seen. Throw the pitch in the 15/20 seconds, if the batter isn't ready, fuck em.

Based on the nrw rule, yeah Machado thats a strike. He definitely took too long but I agree with you guys. Giving the batter1 timeout or the just ler the pitcher throw it.

 

I guess they figure it's not fair to give the pitcher a timer and not give the batter one. So like I kind of get that. It's funny that Machado was the first one to violate the rule in spring training and he dealt with it fine then.

Either way overall it's a great rule that prob needs some fine tuning

 

i just hope nothing stupid happens because of the timers in the postseason especially the world series

 

this is literally a play you see 20 times a game in little league

this play usually stops working in high school but even then it can work lol
