When the deferred money is as big as the Twitter shitposts then it’s just silly

I do think Ohtani is setting himself up to go from being almost universally beloved, to being quite the villain among some fans. No matter how much evidence is provided to show that everything about the deal was above board.

I think a lot of the reaction to this is insane

The initial reaction makes sense to me. Once more people are aware of how a large portion of the deferred money still counts against the luxury tax and the realization hits that the dodgers will be paying 680 million off for a mini eternity they’ll come down.

I still think Ohtani and the Dodgers have put more of a target on them now. Which is expected.

perhaps more accurately: I simply don’t care

will be good for the union (and probably small market teams maybe) to push in the next round of negotiations for this much deferment to not be possible

I mean, most (if not all of them) have money, they just don’t want to use it

So who’s going to be the first $1B deal? At this point it doesn’t matter just defer it until they’re dead

Gonna be a fun day when someone signs a $2 billion deal with $1.9 billion deferred and paid yearly between 2050 and 2150

this is a joke don't come at me saying it doesn't actually work this way

Honestly I don’t think the first person to top this contract in raw numbers (10/700) has even been born yet. Their parents might not have been born yet

Soto is a good (and probably only) candidate for 500m+

  16. No one will ever come close to 700mil

strictly batter/pitchers will max out at like 550 i think

Young Trout is like the only modern player where it would’ve made sense to do 10/700 for ages 20-30
