I wonder how much of this (covid aside) has to do with travel baseball? Like, in my mind, there seems to be so much focus on travel ball, so those kids aren’t active in their local little leagues, which probably makes the local little leagues less interesting and have less participants, thus slowly killing the leagues. Maybe this is too far of a logical leap idk

Travel ball is expensive, eats your weekends, and simply isn’t for everyone. If you’re a regular kid whose parents can’t afford the time or the cost of travel ball, it wouldn’t surprise me if the local leagues don’t have many participants anymore (in part bc the “good” kids are playing travel), making it not super fun.

Plus Fortnite is cool or whatever
