It's the all time losingest franchise in all of the major 4 sports IIRC lol. So basically a LOT of sucking, and then just luck that in the few years they are good they're winning or losing series' before 7.

They did lose a game 5 to the Cards in 2011, which was just terrible. Probably the best team this franchise has ever had, certainly the best rotation, and couldn't even get out of the NLDS.
