Looking at random teams' rosters (as one does in March) and I was struck by the fact that the Braves have a disproportionate amount of dudes who probably grew up Braves fans based on where they're from. I know Georgia and the south tends to just produce a lot of prospects period, but this still seems crazy to me--it's at least:

Matt Olson (GA)
Austin Riley (MS)
Michael Harris II (GA)
Spencer Strider (TN)
Kyle Wright (AL)
Collin McHugh (GA)
Jackson Stephens (AL)
Eli White (SC)

That's kind of a lot?!? That's probably a majority of the American-born players who will be on their opening day roster, or close to it!

And several of those guys have signed extensions too. Maybe this is old news to Braves fans but I don't think I've seen many national stories about the Braves extensions mention the possibility of "maybe he also took a hometown discount because it's literally his hometown team/the one he grew up a fan of." I saw Olson being an Atlanta guy mentioned when they traded for him but that's it. Wonder if it's intentional or just happy accident

 

I heard Sean Murphy grew up a Mets fan gross

 

Also the Braves new play by play guy grew up a huge fan and posted a bunch of pictures of himself as a kid at games and wearing Braves gear after they announced him taking over for Chip.
