    there is one way out

I bought my wife a purple pillow last year, but I bought the wrong thickness. Super bummed about that. One day I’ll go back and get the right ones.

    The rivalry is back on

    that’s fair — I accept medium risk/medium reward

I still think it’s kinda low risk in the sense that, if Levis is bad, they busted on a second rounder, which, in the grand scheme of missing on a QB to get out of QB purgatory, is not very much

But I’m cool with medium risk in the sense that it’s very bad roster management to use day 2 picks in 3 consecutive drafts (including the pick they lost trading up) on QBs that aren’t your long term solution if neither Willis nor Levis end up being that guy, especially with them making win-now moves like Hopkins to try to maximize Tanny/Henry’s windows

And I’m similarly not super high on Levis’ upside so I’m fine with medium reward, but I’ve been wrong before and all the stuff about his #grindset is true and he develops well with a good offensive staff, it could technically be high reward

Wild that gets you suspended and then someone literally use racial stereotypes and misogyny to attack someone and nothing happens. (Just saw this today so just thought it was a relevant comparison)

We’ve reached an accord haha. that’s really what I meant by medium risk, you do take a risk by consistently passing on top QB talent and not appreciating the one time you ever drafted a good WR. They could’ve took over the AFC south and dominated had they just invested in a good QB and kept AJ Brown in the first place. Mike Vrabel is basically Jeff Fisher so it’s also pretty on brand for them to stick with arms folded moustache guy, who doesn’t have a creative play in his playbook except the ones that dramatically fail to convert 4th and 1.

I get that Tannehill’s “not bad” and “consistent when the offense is rolling” and all that, and they wanna build around Henry first, but these are things you do when your team is already the incumbent competitor in the division and is winning important games, not when you’re trying to get there and capitalize on a bad division.

this is the thing that pisses me off most about that team, that we literally have Trevor Lawrence, a QB that every football watcher in the world knew was going to be good fairly quickly in the NFL and they don’t even CARE it seems like! The Jags are a joke, yeah, but that’s something you respond to if you’re serious about winning in the NFL. Lol the Texans and Colts at least respect us enough to be like “oh shit it’s time to mobilize and change up our whole team”, Titans are just like “tra la la 33 year old receiver who is downgrading at QB”.

They are perfectly fine with being that fuckin middling mediocre boring to watch team that spoils it for actually good teams with aggressive defense and 30 minutes of bleeding clock. They have to know by now that’s not what wins in the NFL - but they seem to have fully embraced that being the villain and never actually winning anything is their brand lol. THAT is why it’s always “fuck the Titans.” Just an unserious asswipe franchise that Nashville doesn’t even care about

Mike Vrabel is not basically Jeff Fisher because Vrabel actually wins games and has winning seasons

Also, the Colts and the Texans did not sit there, look at the Jags, and go “Oh shit, we better blow it up and draft rookie QBs to compete!” They spent YEARS either living in mediocrity (the Colts) or utter dogshit (the Texans) and those teams decided to shift gears unless those respective GMs wanted to get fired

It’s not even a rival thing. I am fine with the Texans and Colts having nice things. I just hate the WAY the Titans… are lol. And how they have been since their inception.

Why now then? Why was the mediocrity okay before? I think it’s exactly because there were no plus-talent franchise QBs in the division, for years. which meant the playoffs were wide open regardless. But now there is.

I imagine it’s similar to how weird I look holding such a grudge against the jags, because they couldn’t be less impactful in the story of football lol

hating the titans is just like, really? Them? Lol their slogan is tighten up. What’s the issue?

Yeah, the Titans should have looked themselves in the mirror after the 2019 season and started rebuilding instead of handing both Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry extensions, but that’s obviously not how this league works. They were finally relevant again after Marcus Mariota flopped. They obviously weren’t going to blow it all up. Mike Vrabel isn’t the kind of guy who’s just going to sit there and rank year in and year out like the Texans. Dude preaches toughness and competitiveness. He’s going to run that team into the ground until the wheels fall off.

The mediocrity was never okay before, but people convinced themselves the Colts could compete for super bowls with Philip Rivers, Carson Wentz, and Matt Ryan while praising Chris Ballard every step of the way and nobody in the league stepped in and stopped the Texans blatantly embarrassing tanking

I think this is much less “Wow, the Jags have a lot of influence on the division after finally looking competent again for the first time since 2017” and much more a lot of events within the division happening roughly around the same time
