I also have zero problem with ranking Hurts seventh among QBs. Would like to see him be good for longer than one (1) year before ranking him top five or something.

Hell, I’d probably take TLaw over him too.

 

Shouldn't tlaw be good for more than half of one season to be above hurts

I’ll take TLaw over Hurts long term. I mean, I said it in week one against the Lions and it remained true all the way to the Super Bowl. Hurts struggles significantly against the blitz. He needs to improve there. I’m also baking in regression as I don’t expect the Eagles offense to be lights out again this year like it was last season. Not to mention that the Eagles ran a shotgun and RPO-heavy scheme to take advantage of Hurts as a runner and make things easier on him as a passer. TLaw is asked to do more difficult things given his nature as a QB.

So, sure, in a vacuum, Hurts is better than TLaw. But since football isn’t copy/pasting 2022 stats onto 2023, 2024, 2025, and so on, I’m comfortable saying I would prefer to have TLaw long term than Hurts. I mean, I would still rank Hurts in the top 7 QBs. I really couldn’t care less if he’s fifth or seventh or whatever. That’s just splitting hairs. All I care about is that he’s a great QB and he was last year. Hope he keeps it up.
